Texas, Ohio, California, Pennsylvania… Our nation keeps witnessing mass shootings and the loss of lives. This must end.
Seventeen other states and the District of Columbia have enacted common-sense gun reforms such as ‘red flag’ laws that temporarily prevent someone in crisis from buying or possessing a gun, while respecting our Constitutional rights. Likewise, more than 90% of the American public supports background checks for all gun sales — yet Michigan still does not have a universal background check law. We can and we must change that.
We can and we must come together to work across the aisle on solutions that begin to prevent gun violence.
Legislation exists in both the Michigan House and Senate to make these reforms but has not been acted upon. Tell leadership to act now:
Every Michigander deserves a safe community — from our schools to our places of worship, movie theaters, shopping malls, public events, and more. I urge Committee Chairs to give these bills a committee hearing now.
